Hope you’re all enjoying your Sunday. Now that the Summer season is here, vacation follows… something I cherish every year! Family trips are such a special time for me. Good food, good people and new memories being made. With travel typically comes a slight change in routine; a different city, schedule, food choices. While I love experiencing all the different types of food and enjoy every minute of the variety, I always make an effort to keep up a few areas of my routine to prevent my body from getting all out of sorts. Below, I have gone into detail about a few simple ways you can remain healthy while traveling without driving yourself crazy! Vacation is about relaxing, after all!


1.) Snacking Right-

If you know me, you know I’m a BIG snacker. My body tends to get hungry every few hours, so I always make sure to stay prepared with some of my favorite quick bites to munch on between meals. When traveling, you don’t always know when/where your next meal will be, so having something easy to grab on-the-go is key. Some of my favorite snacks are:

2.) Flexible Exercise-

Exercise is something that is a big part of my daily routine. Moving my body keeps me feeling my best, but it can be difficult to make time/ motivate yourself on a relaxing vacation. Now, I’m all for taking a break and giving your body some rest, but if you’re in the mood to move, it’s totally possible to manage a workout routine while traveling. Some simple ways I enjoy are walking/ exploring where you are, find a jogging trail near you, stop by the hotel gym, do a simple yoga flow (great videos on YouTube), biking around town, finding exercise classes in town… the opportunities are endless! Exercise can still happen while away from your regular routine:)

3.) Relax.

Like I said above, family vacation is something I look forward to all year long. Special memories of years past make me countdown the days till we’re off again! As a self admitted Type A personality, I strive off of routine. I love making my meals and getting in my weekly workouts, but one thing I’ve learned (& am still learning), is to simply relax while I’m on vacay. I won’t always have my avocado toast or smoothie for breakfast or make my 9AM yoga class but you know what? It’s OKAY! Life is too short to sweat the small stuff and while it hasn’t always been easy, learning to love and cherish every little moment of a traveling has made it all that much more enjoyable. So, sit back, relax enjoy this special time!

  1. Lily, you continue to amaze me with the information you share in your blog. Your advice is always “right on” and you have wisdom way beyond your years!!! Of all the things you shared today, the best part for me was “don’t sweat the small stuff”. When I was younger, I wasted so much time and energy worrying about things that really didn’t matter so I’m glad you are already aware that life is too short not to enjoy even the small blessings we have. 🌺 I love you sugar❣️
